ROGER D. BROWN
I began my driving career at 11, driving a truck. Later, cleaning up railroad train wrecks brought me to equipment operation, including 100-ton cranes. I fought forest and wildland fires during 55 years operating dozers and excavators. Then worked as a diesel mechanic for several trucking companies and offshore oil drilling platforms.
Travel was instigated at a really early age. By 19, I had been to forty-seven states and four foreign countries. At the age of 53, I took early retirement, bought an ocean blue water sailboat, and set out on an epic voyage for the past 28 years.
In between all of this, I designed and built timber homes and straw bale homes in the California Sierras and Central Mexico.
I met Roger Brown and saw his cabin and shop on the Bear River many years ago. A realtor friend, Bob Burton, took us there because Roger's buildings are so unique and satisfying to see and experience and because Roger is both creative and adventuresome. Everybody has stories. Roger's fill my heart with hope, joy and faith in life's goodness.
In "Traveler from the Past," Roger Brown takes readers on an awe-inspiring voyage that transcends the boundaries of both space and time. Spanning a lifetime of adventure, this remarkable book is an exquisite tapestry of exploration, self-discovery, and cultural immersion that leaves readers with a profound sense of wanderlust and enlightenment...
The real magic of "Traveler from the Past" lies in Brown's exquisite prose and his ability to bring each country he visits to life. His vivid descriptions paint vivid pictures in the reader's mind, immersing them in the sights, sounds, and scents of far-off lands. Whether he's savoring the vibrant bazaars of Marrakech, trekking the rugged terrains of the Himalayas, or exploring the ancient ruins of Machu Picchu, every destination becomes an enticing invitation for readers to join him on his adventures...
